IPNs Cross-linked polymer is swollen with a monomer, then the monomer is polymerised and cross-linked. Super critical CO2 is used as a solvent and facilitates the combination of two non-compatible materials into novel composite materials. Complex shaped silicone medical devices can be turned into drug delivery devices. The process modifies the bulk material and therefore produces a unique uniform product.
